Kiran's mission is to end the cycle of abuse and to serve and empower South Asian victims of domestic violence in North Carolina by providing culturally specific services and comprehensive economic, social and community resources.
Kiran means 'ray of light' in Hindi. We aim to illuminate, guide and instill hope in the lives of South Asian domestic violence victims all across North Carolina.
We want to bring a change in the way South Asian Community views and responds to domestic and sexual violence by educating the community on understanding diversity, violence prevention, empowerment, promoting healthy and non-violent relationships, commitment to social change, professionalism and equity.
Kiran is a non-profit organization in the State of North Carolina that serves south Asian families facing domestic violence and sexual assault. Our services are free and confidential.
Since 2008, Kiran has empowered victims/survivors by providing access to information, education, and other necessary social and economic support that best reflects each person's interests and needs.
Our non-profit serves and empowers individuals with backgrounds from the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Knowing that there is someone to reach out to in times of crisis is like seeing a ‘ray’ of hope. Kiran has been very supportive in my fight against domestic violence. The organization has helped me become fearless, bold, and capable in taking action towards injustice.
